Bananaphone
As soon as my daughter could move, she was grabbing my scraps and putting them together - always with the purple! Which is surprising, since I don’t use very much purple, or didn’t. It’s creeping into everything now!
This particular quilt, utilizes banana scraps from an under-photographed quilt, plus some purples, some pinks, and just a touch of white to balance it out. It’s the Bright Side quilt pattern by ThenCameJune - Which I highly recommend! It’s a very easy to put together quilt, and it really makes the fabric shine.
The backing is just a bunch of the leftover pieces, and more bananas. Unfortunately, I didn’t measure right at some point, and the back ended up about 3 inches too short for the longarm. Since it was for a toddler anyway, I just removed that last column from the quilt top.
For the quilting, I used my go-to yellow Glide thread, and all of my favorite designs. (I had to add some more yellow in there, right? Right.) To try and keep things cohesive, I did a ribbon candy design in all the stripe blocks. I got very good at ribbon candy by the end of this quilt.
The binding is a tiny hot pink stripe on purple from Tula Pink. This might actually be the most Tula quilt I’ve ever made.
Do you ever make quilts all in one designer?
(I’m sorry for the earworm, if you know the title song, Ring ring ring, Banaphone!)
