Purple String Cheese!
This took a little longer to post than I planned in, but such is life!
This is a quilt I made from my String Cheese tutorial I posted last year. It’s made with a solid purple (Tula Pink’s Dragonbreath I think) and leftover backing from another quilt (not blogged yet).
When you make large twin size quilts, and leave at least 6” on each side of the backing for longarming, you end up with nearly two yards of “scrap”. And the String Cheese pattern was just perfect for these!!
Since the front is only two fabrics, I decided to have a little scrap party on the back. I started with the absolutely gorgeous Octopus fat quarter, and then just added scraps and bits until it was large enough. This might be my favorite way of using fat quarters I can’t bear to cut up into smaller pieces.
I had a friend do a digital quilting pattern on this quilt for me, its a pattern called Tiki Soft from Karlee Porter. Then I bound it in a bright blue mystery solid. It perfectly matches the blue in the print!
Since finishing this quilt a few weeks ago, it’s been constantly dragged around for blanket forts and cuddles. A quilter’s dream, right?
Hope your week is bright and cheerful!!!
